Shweta Sharma : : : : : : : : : : : The context and onsite features have been tackled with sensitivity while being low maintenance. The design emphasizes being user-centric, creating two major types of landscape- recreational and commercial We have considered a family of three and a housekeeper as the users of the site. The meandering pathway from the center goes through stepping stones on the river. Taking a few stone steps we reach the labyrinth that is an open contemplating space surrounded by a thick grove of trees. The lotus pond is a water feature harnessing the nature water line on site that acts as an interesting element along the pathway that ends in a labyrinth. The naturopathy center is approached from a pathway that is also designed as a part reflexology pathway. The reflexology pathway is made up of different varying textures to induce an intended therapy of walking barefooted on the ground. The pathway is lined with medicinal shrubs and trees like tulsi, amla, and other medicinal plants. The specialty of these pathways is that they have plant islands in between inducing an interesting movement. Design of a residential landscape 1

Sanjay Mehta : Studio Conductors : : : Video Links : The word ‘play’ is defined as a meaningful act that is carried out for its own sake with its fundamental motive being the experience it affords. Some facets of play are evidently depicted in projects with comparatively good budgets and freedom of space but as the restrictions get more imposing, the projects tend to become more utilitarian, and ‘playful’ designing is not given enough priority. This study approached an understanding of play and focused on comparatively analyzing the built and lived spaces of slum rehabilitation societies in Mumbai. Then by utilizing the findings in the architectural setting of social housing in Rizvi Residency, Santacruz, this project aimed to express the needs of the users through the design process by reinterpreting mundane everyday spaces and objects. Social housing has been reinterpreted in terms of user engagement and their voluntary participation in the choice of their own home where units were designed on the basis of occupancy with users having a choice in their space requirements. Healthy living is promoted with ample courts to provide each unit with light and ventilation with creating spaces assimilating social living outside of individual homes to establish community interactions and holistic living.

Narrative: A Wellness center is a very essential part for people in this urban society due to the integrated health solutions they provide to both mind and body. Location plays a very important part in the making of any wellness center. Here, our location is the city of Alappuzha in the state of Kerala, India. As this city is located near the waterfront, it creates the perfect setting along with the tropical climate. It is a place with less amount of population that adds up to the beauty of the site and the overall motive of this project. We start with the basic idea of proposing such spaces that respond to such a setting and are designed to allow the maximum amount of natural light and ventilation. All the buildings are centered with a courtyard and many green pockets that create breathing space and a kind of openness in the plot. There is an emphasis on earthy elements such as the use of stone, timber, natural fences. The horizontal expanse of the structure is well balanced with the verticality of the planes formed by the diverse vegetation. We are also proposing congregation spaces for users where they could get some hands-on experiences and help them connect more with nature. Along with this, things like comfort, accessibility, and aesthetics are equally paid attention to. The path gradients are very carefully calculated to minimize fatigue and provide subtle pause points. Gardens are proposed to encourage walking as a form of exercise and act as a barrier from urban noise and smoke.

Through this exercise, we explored the real essence of our own house, what makes a house our own home where each family member can be themselves. The house is designed by understanding the characteristics of my family, their principles, ideologies, traditions, which have been reflected in the design. The spaces for each family member are designed on the basis of their character, hobbies, and requirements, which was understood by taking their interviews and imagining ourselves in their character, a meditative process. The design of the house is inspired by the Bangladeshi Traditions of my own family and the design also has a great influence on Charles Correa’s principles. The house sits on a very interesting site sharing its plot boundary with Vihar Lake, Powai. The house has been designed by understanding the essence of this site, to bring in the context of the site within the house. Previous Next PARA GHOR- The Community Living

The project started by making various sketches and finalizing one form and figuring out the dimensions of the product. This was achieved by producing process models and exploring with the material.the shapes were divided in two categories- span and height. The next step was to make casts for making RCC models. The casts were made from sunboard material. They were filled with cement concrete and reinforcements of steel wires. The concrete took 2-3 days to dry up. The products were then de-moulded and documented.

Karan Danda Ar. Amey Ghosalkar Ar. Saurabh Mhatre Ar. Rohit Shintre : : : : : : : : : : : The intention of the project was to come up with forms using basic operations like addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. Addition is where units of different shape and size come together to form a single form. Each unit can be different in terms of scale, shape, size etc. Subtraction is where small volumes are removed from one big volume and this resulting mass is used to generate an experience. Division is where spaces are separated by only a few partitions and are seamless in nature thereby establishing a flow. Multiplication is where a single unit of same size, scale, shape is rotated, stacked or interlocked together to form one large volume. Spaces can be made interesting using these operations. The exercise started off with sketching around initial ideas, looking at some projects that used these principles and then by concretizing them by making plans and 3d models.
