Competition Brief:
Volume Zero Tree House looks at redefining a home as an active part of Mother Nature, with all the necessary amenities.
Narrative:
The Riverine Retreat aims to be an escape for a couple from the never-ending hustle of city life.
It balances delicately between the principles of discipline and liberation and is a symbiotic design where humans co-exists with nature as one. The site chosen is in Kumaon, Himalayas, which serves the purpose of meditative self introspection and has a traditionally long history of self discovery and a soul cleansing experience of the truest form of peace.
The tranquil river with Banj oak trees lacing it’s terrain has its own micro-ecosystem surrounding each and every tree. The Banj oak trees support the tree house structurally and manifests around the design to create one entire self-sustaining system of its own where the couple can be self-reliant with all resources at site.
The design aims to become one with the nature and nourish the couple’s dream
of being free, radiant and innocent on a journey towards exploring themselves amidst these magical lands.
