Shivani Mehta, Ar. Anisha Mehta, Ar. Ronak Savla, Ar. Nikita Sharma : : : : : : : : : : : Can an app have a real-life prototype that resembles and displays how the app works? The Appsolute exercise in Semester 1 pushed us to do just that. We made a 3d working model which showed how the OkCupid app worked. We later made a graphic for it on an individual level. The vertical cylinders in the center of the graphic symbolize the different profiles which we see on the app. The ramp is the pathway on which one can walk and see these different profiles. Each person using the app (or the model in this case ) has 2 options, either to like a profile or ignore it. If the person wants to like a profile, they swipe right in the app. In the graphic, the user rotates the cylinder in a clockwise direction, which then makes the cylinder fall down and hit a metal surface, making a ringing sound, which resembles the notification sound the person being liked gets on their phone. The process involved tracing the painting and analyzing the spaces. Further, this was analyzed through a set of technical drawings, which helped understand the anthropometry of the human body. After the analysis, we had to enact body postures of a scene from the painting and create the diagram with proper anthropometric measurements. Further, these body postures were perceived as an interaction with the cityscape in the modern-day era. Previous Next Body And Movement In Space 2

The cities have fairly adapted to these changes in every aspect due to the over growing population, change in housing typology and the economical changes. There are noticeable changes in the housing typology as well which can be visually noticed even though not experienced. There are various housing typologies observed in the cities depending on various demographics such as number of occupants in the family, types of user groups, age groups, etc. Making it a subjective topic. Due to rapid urbanization, cities are growing day by day and also there is a demand for the residential sector because of migration and also the cities are getting denser and highly populated. Present day need for shelter is increasing due to an increase in population. Hence, housing and redevelopment is a subject of curiosity among the working class of the city. The construction of high density low-rise housing apartments was an attractive option for lower and middle-income buyers as the cost of construction is less for such developments making the purchase affordable for them. In such dense living environments, it is important to know whether the social and psychological needs of people are fulfilled in order to achieve a healthy physical environment. Housing is a composite commodity that fulfills various needs. It is not just a dwelling unit because it is required to fulfill various human needs of socializing, security, engagement with the neighborhood, etc.The needs of humans are vast apart from just a basis need for shelter it is important to be well informed about the social spaces in a community living and how it molds the social lifestyle of a person. The relationship between humans and the built environment is diverse and also it helps use to understand their idea of socializing and adaptive measures to be taken while proposing a redevelopment project in such scenarios. The study tries to find out many ways of establishing social well being in redeveloped structures and how to engage people in socializing and community based interactions. It also studies the life in chawls in urban context and the use of space or their adaptive activities in order to live in chawls. Keywords: Social well being, community spaces, built environment, communal spaces, interactive neighborhood. Reviving Community Interactions and Activities in the Neighborhood

Anisha Mehta, Ar. Ronak Savla, Ar. Nikita Sharma : : : : : : : : : : : Second-semester deals with exploring three-dimensional representation and detailing in terms of architecture. This involves numerous types of drawings, each of which highlights surfaces parallel to one of the three planes. These views were carefully drafted, giving utmost importance to neatness and line intensities. Further detailing can be represented by exploding or cutting through these three-dimensional views. The drawings include isometric views, axonometric views, oblique views and one-point and two-point views. The said views were explored by representing smaller objects as well as larger contexts to gain a wholesome understanding of what each drawing conveyed the best. These exercises prove to be essential when it comes to decision making regarding what drawing to choose to best explain one’s design. Previous Next ARD Portfolio 1

Narrative: 'Ashray', a haven of modular molecules, is a Covid-19 hospital that has been planned by identifying the different user groups and segregating them into categories so as to provide maximum efficiency of functioning and comfort and safety to the users. The hospital has been designed such that it is flexible and the wards can be interconvertible so as to suit the influx of patients. The Covid ICU block, the General Covid block and the Non - Covid General block have been separated so as to balance the circulation and movement of various types of users and patients. The hospital has been also planned so as to provide scope for expansion in the future, and to also permit the conversion into a regular hospital. Steel has been used to permit modularity so as to ease the manufacturing and construction process, and enable the hospital to be constructed within 100 days, which is extremely essential in these times of dire need.

The colour textures while enhancing the internal partitions. This style uses colours highlighting partitions and furniture while focusing on the spaces and detailing appropriately. The second illustration in the style of Arata Isozaki highlights the form along with curves. This language helps to play with sciography. Here, the fenestrations are evident from the viewing direction of the drawing. The play of volumes is perceptible in the way it is represented. We understood how space adapts to the movement of the human body and responds to it. Various medieval & renaissance paintings were analyzed and then attempted to recreate the same. All this helped to understand the human body, its proportions, movements, and space. This methodology helped us to focus on both the qualitative and quantitative data. Then we made anthropometric drawings to further our understanding. We then found scenarios where these particular postures could be utilized in today’s world. Both the firms believe in research and coming up with new innovative ideas. Not only for the projects but self research and proposing the same to the government and private organizations. Not just landscape but these firms take up a variety of projects like infrastructure, restoration of historical sites and many more but yes still giving these some ecological values. HNS architects believe in a culture of collaboration where they work together with people from different fields and thus not restricting the team to their firm only. Akshay kaul is also believed to work with new people in almost every project and not having a particular team for better results and innovative designs. Sustainability and water management is the main part of each project and solutions through landscape meaning as seen in the two projects where an unused quarry site and the sound reduction problem were addressed through a landscape design. Lastly, we can see despite being two firms based in different countries and context we find similarities in the way they function Case Study HNS ARCHITECTS and AKSHAY KAUL

Both companies believe in research and the development of new, innovative ideas, proposals not only for projects but also for self-research and recommendations to government and private organizations. When we compare international and Indian firms, we can see that both have a more stratified hierarchy and authority, with specific tasks assigned to each member, whereas in a smaller firm, multitasking is common, and such specific boundaries are blurred. There is a disparity in the number of workers. MVVA primarily works on public and government projects, utilizing its large size and superior technologies to design the entire project in a shorter period. Satish Khanna Associates, on the other hand, works on a greater number of private-public projects and employs less technology, necessitating a prolonged design phase. Context and community play a bigger role in MVVA. Satish Khanna is an associate on the landscape that supports the architecture, and they work on autonomous land key initiatives such as parks. Finally, even though the two firms are based in different countries and contexts, we can see similarities in the way they operate. Case Study Satish Khanna Associates and MVVA
