The architectural value of the design mainly lies in creating a happy and spirited atmosphere for its users in times of loss of hope. The concept takes root in symbolism, taking inspiration from the chemical compound of serotonin, the hormone that stabilizes our feelings of happiness.Flexibility was kept at the helm of the design owing to the unpredictability of the times.The structure is planned with repeating floor plates and efficient services that helps in inverting and expanding the use of spaces in case of adversities.
The scheme was fast track construction. Hence, phases of construction were set adhering up to a 100 day timeline. A hybrid construction technique was opted for to
achieve the desired form in minimum time. The steel details were designed feasible and comprehensive to even laymen to pave way for maximum workforce.
The structure entails a horizontal spread and a vibrant, staggered façade. Central voids were created in the hospital blocks to provide for courtyards and increase active facades.The varied fronts and levels give a sense of dynamism to the form, drawing keen parallelism to the nature of the pandemic.Ultimately, the aim of the design is to keep everyone apart, yet together.
