Pranay Bhavsar : : : : : : : : : : : The portfolio looks at the translation of the learnings from Building construction and Building services studios of the semester ,covering the topics of Cladding systems, Glazing systems, Canopy design, Electrical services, and Acoustic services, into the detailing of a G+1 structure of a clubhouse. The designed structure is a RCC built covered in a composition of a dry stone cladding juxtaposed with a specially designed unitised glazing system incorporating pre-fab tessalated aluminium-glass panels. The fixing detail here explores use of interlocking mechanism using specially designed aluminium sections and MS brackets. Further the canopy continues the use of these tessalated panels and protrudes out as a part of the glazing itself. It is supported using steel beams and tension cables. The improved mutant of transitory traditional nomads, they travel and anchor themselves preferably in a pre-existing community with suitable infrastructure, for a desired short duration. Even though technology helps their mobility, the indigenous society and local community also play a significant role in their journey. Having the thirst of authentic tourists, they look forward to the knowledge and emotional exchange with the locals. Their give and take transactions are necessary for the human race to promote interculturality and maintain global cross-boundary relations. The Digital Nomads are certainly a boon for society. It is essential to morph these travelers within the existing local fabric. Thus, the aim of the research thesis is to define a social infrastructure that gathers and centralizes Digital Nomads by promoting chanced encounters with the pre-existing local communities. Research advances by studying community-based Business Models of ‘Zostel, we-work, Park & Play’. All work towards getting diverse communities together. The hybrid models like Unsettled (Bali), Selina (Global), Outsite (Global); have a comprehensive range of spaces and programs that not only serve all infrastructural needs of a Digital Nomad but also promote numerous exchanges with the locals. Streamlining the context of research, Worli Koliwada in Mumbai is selected as the zone for intervention. The need of the hour is to preserve the livelihood of an indigenous community that is endangered, by converting it into a sustainable community model. Amplifying the importance of these indigenous communities by developing them for tourism as they hold a factor of diverse engagement. Thus, the design proposal will house local, domestic, foreign visitors who wish to be a part of this arrangement. They will be asked to sign-up for a RENTAL MODEL, a combination of Amenities +Leisure +Engagement. A model which provides an incentive to both the parties, by providing diverse opportunities for chanced encounters. The proximity to the sea is the biggest advantage of the site while providing views of the city's ever-progressing skyline. Mumbai is a captivating city where tradition and modernity meet on the streets and the skyline. The proposal is also a reflection of Mumbai’s past and the present. The city’s ability to progress while being rooted in its culture. It was understood that the users are unique and demand privacy and security. The client, Rohit, is a food enthusiast who turned into a home chef in the 2020 pandemic. He lives with his wife and household, who helps him in his business. The objective was to make a traditional but minimalist design. The kitchen is at the heart of the house and opens into the dining area and living room without any visual barrier. The house is designed to make the kitchen the preeminent social space. The living room could be outstretched into a terrace to accommodate friends and guests on weekends and special occasions. A foldable bed at one end of the kitchen creates a temporary setting for home helpers without any encroachment on their privacy. The bedroom has minimalist furniture which steps up to the terrace for a calmer view. The materials are used repetitively with variations in textures and colours, which aid to the minimalistic, traditional ‘wada’ theme. The FUSION

We understood how space adapts to the movement of the human body and responds to it. Various medieval & renaissance paintings were analyzed and then attempted to recreate the same. All this helped to understand the human body, its proportions, movements, and space. This methodology helped us to focus on both the qualitative and quantitative data. Then we made anthropometric drawings to further our understanding. We then found scenarios where these particular postures could be utilized in today’s world. The process involved tracing the painting and analyzing the spaces. Further, this was analyzed through a set of technical drawings, which helped understand the anthropometry of the human body. After the analysis, we had to enact body postures of a scene from the painting and create the diagram with proper anthropometric measurements. Rohit Karekar aishwaryar19@aoamumbai.in : : : : : : : : : Most of the women in India are unaware of the fact that the sanitary pads which we use contain about 90% of the plastic and are very difficult to recycle and it takes 400 - 500 yrs to decompose. Also, there is a difficulty while disposing of like we have different colored garbage bins for different types of waste but there is no such proper disposal system for sanitary pads in India. Most of the women dispose of their pad by wrapping it in the plastic provided with it and then throwing it in the dustbin nearby. Later this becomes inconvenient and affects the health of the person who is segregating the garbage. If I become the CM, first I would make a rule to use biodegradable pads which are made out of natural materials like bamboo, cotton, straw bale and are processed to make leak proof and soft, and also convenient to use and dispose of. Also, I will make sure that there is a proper disposing area or a bin for the sanitary pads. Menstrual cups are the best alternative for sanitary pads as they can be sterilized and reused resulting in less waste. This initiative will make the country a clean and beautiful place to live in. Amey Ghosalkar : : : : : : : : : : : The robustness of the Lilavati Lalbhai Library building, designed by Rahul Mehrotra, is of a bold, young, vibrating-with-ideas, respectful youth. The campus is undergoing changes, and opening up new vistas to review with fresh breath even the older buildings. The new library building is large in size and has a visibly strong presence – housing a large collection of books but also exhibiting some strong architectural ideas. The building adopts a characteristic language – that of the louvers – an architectural element much debated and discussed within schools and traditions of critical regionalism, to architecture of a global south in the wake of an Internationalism within the modern style. In India, louvers became a key element to imagine modernism that was local, because it responded to the regional climate. The language of louvers that the building adopts and the way it’s ground floor turns into a series of solid-relief formations, the building extends itself into the landscape of the surrounding public zones, and makes for a beautiful and unique presence. And as you enter this building, the form-mass of changing valencies and formations, the building behaves and operates much like a kaavad – a traveling shrine where multiple doors keep opening to reveal inner layers leading to a core. Initially, it started with having a story in mind. The story was based on a conspiracy theory, of DO ALIENS EXIST? We all have our theory on this topic and I have mine too. The story is about how aliens are the supersmart living on Mars, how they have the most unique inventions, machinery, and some amazing technology which is the future of technology for earthlings. But they lack one thing that the earthlings are blessed with and that is ‘Nature’, and now their entire focus is directed towards replicating nature. The planet where these aliens live in the ‘ Marsiverse’. How ironic is the fact that the earthlings are creating more and more technology and in turn hampering Nature which is so abundant here whereas aliens are trying their best and creating the best technology to create Nature!
