Dhaval Jain : : : : : : : : : : : The proposal attempts to bring people back into the light in the city. After a gray period, the damage caused by the explosion at Beirut, gives a chance to rethink the structure of the city. Contrasting to the earlier government centric and corrupt system, the city is being planned now in a way to bring the citizens to the center. Getting them together, providing them with better amenities and lifestyle and making them more aware of the same. Several public facilities have been designed along the sea-shore and at strategic points in the city to allow people leisure and public participation in the building of the city. Green patches have been reintroduced to the city through these patches. The cultural center acts as a built form that reflects the new city culture. It homes a wide range of functions and attracts people from a wide range of interests to occupy and move all around the building. The circular form allows the people to have a complete exterior view of the city and the court in the center attracts all the attention from all common balconies on each floor while the attached lawn provides informal seating and leisure spaces. Each facade was designed keeping in mind the weather conditions, comfort, and requirements of the users. This exercise highlighted how passive architecture adapts to its surroundings as well as the material, form, and fenestrations, to eliminate the need for mechanical heating and ventilation. Jay Mali : : : : : : : : : : : Recently shifted from Istanbul to Goa, Rucha lives in a 1 BHK apartment with her husband Emir who is a cardiologist and her ten-year-old daughter Tansa. Catering to the various needs of the family, the design incorporates a modern- minimalist approach. The monochromatic color scheme gives off light and earthy vibes and the use of blues and greens in the form of textures and plants add a pop of color to the space. The use of different textures like brick cladding in the living room, reflective surfaces like mirrors and the wooden flooring and beadboard ceiling help break the monotony and accentuate certain features of the space. Further the beadboard ceiling in the living room adds a cosy and modern look. The design incorporates an open space layout with the kitchen counter and the bookcase acting as a separating element creating workspaces for tansa and Rucha. The design contains line furnishings, flushed cabinets and space saving minimalist furniture that are well-built and comfortable. The corner seating for reading, well designed balcony spaces with mesh walls for gardening, coffee table, use of Turkish rugs, foldable table for playing board games, a separate bookcase and wall display for showcasing antiques responds to the specific needs of the client. Additionally, the use of décor elements inspired from geometric patterns and the wall hanging planters add a touch of character to the space. A minimalist Expression

Sulakshana Bhanushali, Ar. Nitesh Avhad : : : : : : : : : : : Understanding the acoustic needs of the spaces , first the levels have been raised as we move away from the board for a clearer sight and view and better hearing levels at each point . The arrangement of the students is done in compact seating to minimize the distance by providing the advantage of reduced volume and increasing the acoustic experience of the room along with the recessed false ceiling. Thus at the end of the room , the buffer space acts as a barrier during the lectures due to window curtains , furniture and creates a buffer space . The side walls are having the absorption values so that the reverberation of the sound does not take place. The front wall of the room has a reflective surface so that the sound can reflect and travel to the maximum distance while the ceiling has both reflection and absorption values to balance out the acoustic standards of the room. Thus from reflection to absorption, different materials are used across the room to create an acoustically good room . 8mm acoustic panels are suspended from the ceiling through hanger wire and attached to the metal grid and are also cladded to the walls on the wooden battens . We woke up to a cheerful summer morning, And walked up the hill to cure our urge to wander. There we saw Jack and Jill going up the hill To fetch a pail of water. We saw Jack mistreat Jill, I waited and looked into the matter. But when Jill let out disturbing shrill, In Jack, all we saw was our barbaric father. I was poised but she lost control And what came after was slaughter. 'She wanted his scrambled brain' claimed the abused daughter. Next morning with a clean slate, all I could say- "Jack fell down and broke his crown And Jill came tumbling after." I looked into mirror at my bruises, she grinned at me. I was her and she was me. Narrative: The city of Jaipur is known for its architecture, which is dominated by the Indian Vastu ideologies. In response to the brief, we designed a coworking and co-living space that provides guests with both a modern and traditional Jaipur stay. The construction is designed in such a way that the exterior will fascinate the Jaipuri sandstone jali look, while the interior will offer the individual a nice, warm, homely feeling through the use of modern interior design and homely internal décor of the dorms, 2 bhks, and loft apartments. We designed the structure with passive cooling measures in mind, and we included a wind tower as a natural venting agent. All of the spaces were designed with the Vastu and Jaipur regulations in mind. The outward appearance is simple yet Jaipuri; the use of graffiti on the outer facade symbolizes a free-spirited lifestyle with no restrictions, resulting in joyous behavior. Simple but enthralling!!

Shruti Barve : : : : : : : : : : : The main objective behind this particular design was to have something which will have some sort of openness to it showing the expressive nature of the different types of users around it as well as the design should fundamentally cover all the basics regarding the surrounding interactions and also the shading and circulation, etc. There were a lot of varieties of grids to work with regarding the initial concept. Breaking down the narrative furthermore helped me to understand the relations of the grids with the developed narrative. Formal grids and multiform grids were the ones with which I decided to move ahead. The basic aspect to express my narrative was to have open access and seatings on most of the sides so that there's no crowded spots in the design and also to have a minimal but effective approach in terms of the design. The tree plantation and the overall landscaping was an important aspect to look at because of the existing college. The windows facing on the front side were to be noted because the overall plantation moved around it. Here the thought was to place trees which will work out as a canopy providing shade to the users. Aniruddha Nafrey : : : : : : : : : : : The experience centre is planned to be extremely legible and wall – free, such that every space can be clearly understood and accessible from every point in the space, making it more convenient for functioning. However, it is essential to divide spaces as well for carrying out various activities and functions. Small, eye – level partitions are used to divide spaces, and columns are used as demarcators of spaces. White is highly welcoming to visitors, and gives a very sleek and modern look to an office space. As a result, alucabond is intensively used to clad the interiors. Artifical greenery is used to make the space more peaceful and welcoming, and it blends well with the natural light from the atrium. The planning of the space is also done by understanding the way a user would use the space, providing maximum legibility, efficiency and ease of movement, a better experience as well as maximum privacy to the office users. On the other hand, the 2BHK is designed with an organic theme. The shelves and storages are designed in a honey – comb shape, and partitions are inspired from the honey – comb structure as well. The lighting is inspired from organic shapes as well, and wood as a material is used commonly. The shades of brown, cream and yellow are predominant in the interiors. Experiencing Centre

Previous Next Email Guide Semester Subject Student Name Bhavya Mewada Allied Design - Landscape V Ar. Juhi Prasad bhavya19@aoamumbai.in Studio Conductors Ar. Juhi Prasad, Ar. Shruti Barve : : : : : : : : : : : The process started by understanding the existing conditions & spaces which are in the Byculla park. The site holds rich heritage and cultural values which were studied to further program the design and required spaces. The existing natural cover, which are tree-typology , groundscape , softscape materials , heights of the entrance are understood with the help of diagrams; the narrative for these studies evolve towards the key idea of visual and physical curiosities which can be experienced in the space. Further the analytical and logical approach was laid out through studies of light & shadows , background-foreground , enclosures , heritage zones , scale-proportion , tactile textures. The proposal intended to retain the general character of the park : heritage zone. For education and entertainment of the public, different spaces were designed for interaction and making people understand the vegetation species , rainwater sustainability etc. The experience of the people is sequenced in a way where one is connected with the nature and the binaries that unflod : formal & informal , chaos & order develops a sense curiosity in the people. Rohit Karekar ameyat19@aoamumbai.in : : : : : : : : : We often complain about the waste around us But, do we put in efforts to make a change? The narrative starts with the government making a rule of not collecting decomposable waste from the societies. This automatically forces the societies to develop their waste management mechanism and curate byproducts functional and self-sufficient to them. This would reduce the tremendous load on the existing system. The proposal further discusses tripartite and quadra-partite dustbins, toilets open to the public managed by individual societies, biogas domes, etc. it attempts to bring a shift in the attitude of the privileged and the ignorance of the unprivileged. Monthly fests, markets, and subsidies by the government would play a key element in putting this proposal in place. Self Sufficient Selves
