This project aims at creating a residential co-living facility, for 6-8 students, where there are dedicated spaces for relaxing, sleeping and studying, and the user can experience comfort inside, albeit the climate outside is extreme. Thorough climatic analysis, with study of wind, rain, sun and heat patterns were considered to make design interventions.
A dedicated courtyard space in the central zone and periphery of the living room has been proposed, that ushers fresh air circulation throughout the building and indoor plantations of a specific type that absorb moisture and control humidity. ( palms, orchids, spider plant, cactus, aloe vera). Natural materials such as brick, bamboo and stone have been incorporated with glass to merge with existing context. A brick jali has been utilized, for a dual purpose of providing ventilation as well privacy, as well.
