Competition Brief:
Redefining Platitudes demands all members to choose an existing drawing or illustration from their previous projects and develop a narrative which is distinctive from the existing narrative of that project by exploring new mediums, textures, graphic styles, and rendering styles.
Narrative:
The hustle-bustle, the pollution and numerous problems fabricate the city in only one emotion of black and white and neutrality. The dichotomy of these emotions is seen as we get introduced to a village. Villages induce calmness and contentment, which a city life lacks, afflicting us more to that space.
The village accommodates various structures, having a particular function, each provoking a distinct emotion. These emotions are implied through the colors stimulating them. All the houses in the village transmit positivity, confidence, and security, which is conveyed through the color blue. The orange library projects an idea of enthusiasm to read books and offers creativity to visualize it. The hospital, which requires tranquility and well-being, is manifested by the color green. The red color of the community hall depicts the excitement and energizes us to celebrate the activity held there. The excitement and happiness of the school and garden are portrayed through the color yellow.
The presence of color is evident in everything we perceive and, to express the space we have represented through various colors associated with a specific emotion. This vivid graphic comprises forms of architectural drawings, namely plans, sections and isometrics, breaking the usual way of representing space in a fixed only monotonous way.
